Maj Gen Vasquez, CAP's national commander, said "Civil Air Patrol's very best cadets will be front and center for this competition. These cadets work year round to get here." Judges were from U.S. Air Force Senior NCO Academy and the grand winner of the 16 teams has its name inscribed on the award trophy.
This year's competition was set up to be more "squadron-friendly" with events expanded beyond inspection and drill emphasis. The new format includes indoor and outdoor posting of colors, full fitness circuit, public speaking, team leadership, inspection preparation, along with non-graded events in litter carry and model rocketry. It was a busy three day competition with great opportunity to meet teams from across the country.
